Chicken Katsu Records bows it's head to a great influence and supporter of Chicken Katsu Records. It is a very sad day here at Chicken Katsu Records to have to report that Hawaiian Punk legend Lance Hahn of J CHURCH & CRINGER passed away yesterday. Lance was someone that we here at Chicken Katsu Records and of course Katsu Curry Distribution (our Hawaii Branch) really respected. For us being from an island seperated quite some ways from the mainland it was very difficult and pretty much profitless to play the kind of music that we wanted to play. Seeing how Lance was always creating and moving forward but still sticking to his DIY roots was very inspiring. I had the privilege of interviewing Lance on several occasions (a recent interview in Fiction Romance) and J CHURCH even contributed a song to the World Famous Kintama Boxers compilation. I'm sure it's no surprise to many of his fans since you could feel the pain that he was going through in his recent newsletters and well it seemed he was having health problems one after another... hopefully now he's sleeping comfortably and listening to some of his favorite records.

Lance - Thanks for the great songs, great writings and reviews, scene reports, Giant Robot contributions, and support to this small indie record label from Okinawa. You will be missed...
